Joe Hesse - Varsity Head Coach

 

Coach Joe Hesse has been at Gilbert High School for 18 years as PE teacher and Girls' Head Volleyball Coach. He has a career record of 579-150 and has led the GHS girls to 12 consecutive region titles, 10 Final Four appearances and 3 State Championships. He has also coached club volleyball for 19 years.

Coach Hesse played volleyball for ASU from 1993-95. He graduated from Arizona State in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Master's degree in Education. Joe is married to Amy and they have two children, Brooke and Danny.
 

    
       
 

Matt Gutierrez - Varsity Assistant Coach

Coach Matt Gutierrez has been coaching girls' volleyball for 15 seasons. This is his fourth year assisting Coach Hesse with the varsity program. Coach Gutz previously coached the freshman team and had an excellent winning record there. He will also be heading into his 11th season as the head varsity baseball coach.

Coach Gutz received his Bachelors and Masters degree from Northern Arizona University and he is a Spanish instructor at Gilbert High School. Matt married his wife Holly 16 years ago and they have two children, Natalia (13) and Antonio (9).

 

  
       
 


Jordan Neal - Junior Varsity Head Coach

This is Coach Jordan Neal's second year with the Gilbert Tiger Volleyball program. He graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with degrees in Secondary Education and Mathematics. Coach Neal teaches Math at GHS. In addition, he is the Gilbert High Boys Junior Varsity Coach and coaches club volleyball for AZ East Valley Jr's and Victory Volleyball Club.

Jordan is now in his second year of marriage with his lovely bride Audrey.
 

  
       
 

Tana Martin - Freshman Head Coach

 

This is Coach Tana's fifth year coaching with the Gilbert Tiger Volleyball program. She graduated and played volleyball at Texas Tech University. In addition to teaching at Gilbert High School, she also officiates NCAA Volleyball (Indoor and Sand) and coaches club at AZ East Valley Jr's.

Tana is married to Pat and they have two children, Cody and Makenna.

 

  
       
 

Pam Miller - Freshman Assistant Coach

This is Coach Pam Miller's fifth year as a freshman coach for Gilbert High School. She graduated from Bethel University where she also played volleyball. Coach Miller has many years of experience coaching volleyball both as head coach at Bethel and at the club level. Pam has been coaching at AZ East Valley Jr’s for six years.

She currently works as a Special Education Clerk for the Gilbert School District. Coach Miller is married to Tom and they have three children, Jay, Krista and Ty.
